Victor Abertondo
Victor Abertondo is the Global Research & Development Director at Advanta Seeds, a subsidiary of the UPL Group, headquartered in Dubai. With over twenty-five years of experience in plant breeding and seed systems, he leads global research initiatives, overseeing breeding programmes for 21 crops, including field crops, forages, and vegetables. He also manages the integration of advanced breeding technologies into the innovation pipeline, such as molecular breeding, trait discovery, data science, and phenomics. He leads efforts to create high-performing seed products for diverse environments and cropping systems.
Before joining Advanta Seeds, Victor spent more than a decade focused on corn breeding and seed production research. He holds an engineering degree in agronomy and a Master of Science in Plant Breeding from Iowa State University, combining technical expertise with strategic vision.
